Who's behind this site?

I'm Tukacs Emánuel Dávid, an independent insurance broker. As a broker, I don't represent a single insurer – I act on the client's instructions: for your trip, I request competing travel insurance quotes from several insurers and hand them over in one clear table – with limits, add-ons, strengths and weaknesses included. I assess the need and explain the options – the decision is always the client's.

My activity is supervised by the Hungarian National Bank (MNB): my registration number is 114063010758, which anyone can verify in the MNB's institution register. I carry out the intermediary activity as a partner of Eurorisk Biztosítási Alkusz Kft. My main site: tukacs.com.

Why travel insurance, specifically?

Because it's the insurance most people buy out of routine, at the last minute, clicking whatever costs the least – while in trouble it's exactly this that matters most: the limits, the assistance hotline, the sport switches. My work is about reversing that routine: real limits sized to the destination country, add-ons matched to the itinerary, and the honesty to say when a basic package is enough. Three principles I stick to

• Competition, not pushing products. Instead of insurer brands, I compare content: limits, deductibles, sport classifications, cancellation (storno) conditions, the quality of assistance. Several insurers' quotes are placed side by side – the table speaks for itself. With the online calculator you can also get figures within minutes – I pick up where the calculator leaves off.
• Honesty instead of scare tactics, too. With me there's no fear-mongering and no promise that nothing is ever excluded – just factual terms. I also write openly about what bank-card insurance can do, what cancellation cover doesn't pay for, and when booking online without a broker is enough – that's also part of giving you fair information.
• I try to help where things get stuck. The primary route for any claim is always the insurer's non-stop assistance hotline – that's the fastest route, and every article on this site teaches that. But if a case gets stuck or becomes disputed, as a broker I help the client, where I can – in the language of the policy terms.

What I am NOT – an important distinction

• I'm not a round-the-clock dispatcher. In an emergency abroad, the insurer's assistance hotline is the fastest route – it arranges – in line with the policy terms – a hospital, an interpreter, medical repatriation, 24 hours a day. My role is preparing a good policy and helping with stuck cases – together, the two provide real security.
• I'm not a doctor. Fitness to travel, vaccinations, medication – these are medical questions, and your GP and a travel-health clinic are the right authority for them. I show you the insurance side: what the contract covers or excludes, and how.
• I'm not a travel agency. I don't sell trips, tickets or accommodation – so my insurance advice doesn't depend on selling you a trip. On insurance questions linked to bookings (cancellation cover, platform tick-boxes), that's exactly why I can help without bias.

What does this cost you?

I don't charge the client a fee for advice or for running the competition – the intermediary's fee is paid by the insurer. This is standard market practice, and I talk about it openly, because trust rests on it: you know exactly what your broker lives on, and also that the right to decide always stays with you.
